Test preparation

1) Before the test, the power supply and all external connections of the tested equipment should be removed, and the tested object should be grounded and discharged for 1min after short-circuiting, and the larger capacity should be discharged for at least 2min to avoid electric shock and affect the measurement results.

2) Check whether the instrument pointer is on infinity, otherwise it is necessary to adjust the mechanical zero screw. Note: When adjusting the mechanical zero screw, the left and right adjustment amount is half a turn.

3) Wipe the dirt on the surface of the subject with a dry and clean soft cloth. If necessary, wash the dirt on the surface of the casing with gasoline first to eliminate the influence of surface leakage current on the test results.

 4) Insert one end of the high-voltage test wire (red) into the 2LINE end, connect the other end to or use a hook to hang on the high-voltage conductor of the tested device, insert one end of the green test wire into the 3GUARD end, and connect the other end to the high-voltage protection ring of the tested device to eliminate the influence of surface leakage current.

Insert another black test wire into the EARTH end and connect the other end to the housing or ground of the device under test. Note: When wiring, pay special attention to the connection of LINE (red) and GUARD(green) do not short circuit it.

2. Start testing

1) Turn the band switch on the power supply. If the power supply is working normally, the indicator light should be green or red or yellow.

2) Turn to the voltage selection, and the instrument automatically switches on to detect the battery capacity for 3 seconds. When the pointer stops in the BATT.GOOD zone, the battery is good, otherwise the battery needs to be replaced.

3) Turn the band switch and select the required test voltage (500V/1000V/2500V).

4) Press or lock the test key to start the test. At this time, the high voltage output indicator above the test key is bright and the built-in buzzer of the instrument sounds every 1 second, indicating that the LINEC end has high voltage output.

Warning: During the test, do not touch the exposed part of the front end of the probe rod to avoid the risk of electric shock.

5) When the green LED is bright, read the insulation resistance value (high range) in the outer ring; Red LED light, read the inner ring scale. After the test, release the test key, the meter stops the test, wait a few seconds, do not immediately remove the probe from the test circuit. Then the meter will automatically release the residual charge in the test circuit.

Warning: When the test is completed or repeated, the subject must be fully discharged to the ground after short connection (the instrument also has built-in automatic discharge function, but the time is longer)

6) For the second continuous measurement, you can follow steps 3-5. Note: If you do not test for a long time, you need to take out the battery in the battery compartment to avoid battery fluid leakage and damage to the instrument.
