Use Procedure Of Grounding Resistance Tester

I Preparations

1. Read the operation manual of the grounding resistance tester carefully, and be familiar with the structure, performance and operation method of the grounding resistance tester.

2. It is necessary to prepare all tools and accessories for measurement, wipe the instrument and grounding probe, especially the grounding probe, and clean the dirt and rust on its surface that affect the conductivity.

3. Disconnect the connection point between the grounding main line and the grounding body or the connection point of all the grounding branches on the grounding main line, so as to make the grounding body separate from any connection and become an independent body.

       Preparation is a crucial work before measurement. If these preparations are not made, it is likely that the measurement cannot be carried out smoothly, or the measurement results are not accurate enough. 

II Measurement procedure

1. Insert two grounding probes into the ground 20 m and 40 m away from the grounding body respectively along the radiation direction of the grounding body, with the insertion depth of 400 mm,

2. Place the grounding resistance measuring instrument horizontally near the grounding body, and then conduct wiring. The wiring method is as follows. 

① Connect the grounding body with the terminal "E1" (three terminal button measuring instrument) of the grounding measuring instrument or with the common terminal (four terminal button measuring instrument) of C2 and "after short connection with a short special wire.

② Connect the measuring probe (current probe) 40m from the grounding body to the terminal "C1" of the measuring instrument with a long special wire.

③ Connect the measuring probe (potential probe) with the terminal "P1" of the measuring instrument with the special wire in the middle of the remaining length.

3. After placing the grounding resistance meter horizontally, check and make sure that the pointer of the galvanometer points to the center line. If it does not point to the center line, adjust the "zero adjuster" to make the pointer of the meter point to the center line.

4. Set the "multiple scale" (or coarse adjustment knob) to a larger multiple, and slowly turn the generator handle so that the pointer begins to shift. At the same time, turn the "measurement scale dial" (or fine adjustment knob) so that the galvanometer pointer points to the center line.

5. When the pointer of galvanometer is close to the balance (the pointer is close to the center line), the speed of rotating handle shall be accelerated to make the rotating speed reach above 120r / min, and the "measuring scale disk" shall be adjusted to make the pointer point to the center line.

6. If the reading of "measuring scale disk" is too small (< 1), it is difficult to read the accurate value, it means that the multiple of multiplying scale is too large. At this time, adjust the "multiplying scale" to a smaller multiple, re adjust the "measuring scale" so that the pointer points to the center line, and read the accurate reading.

7. Calculation of measurement results, i.e. r ground = multiplying scale reading × "measuring scale disk" reading.
