Application & Technical Analysis of ZXHL Series Standard Current Transformers

Time:2026-07-28 Number:4

Abstract

Standard current transformers act as core reference standards in current transformer calibration laboratories, underpinning the traceability of measurement values for electrical metering equipment. This article introduces the ZXHL series standard current transformer, elaborates its structural characteristics, core performance features and technical specifications, and explains key wiring requirements and on-site application points for engineering and testing technicians.

1. Overview of ZXHL Series Standard Current Transformer

The ZXHL series standard current transformer serves as a reference standard to verify the accuracy class of tested current transformers, which can be two accuracy classes (or less) lower than the standard device. The device consists of primary winding and secondary winding. Strictly follow the current ratio marked on the terminal board during wiring. L1 and K1 are the polarity terminals of primary winding and secondary winding respectively; La represents the polarity terminal when conductors need to pass through the iron core.

2. Main Product Features

Calibration can be implemented in accordance with the standard current ratio marked on the equipment nameplate.

Self-calibration function is available for 5/5 or 1/1 current transformation ratios.

Equipped with casters, convenient for transportation and field handling.

4. Technical Notes for Practical Operation

4.1 Polarity Connection

Correct polarity connection is the prerequisite to guarantee calibration precision. Operators must confirm L1, K1 and La terminals before power-on. Wrong polarity connection will directly lead to wrong test results.

4.2 Current Ratio Confirmation

Before each test, cross-check the transformation ratio on the terminal plate and nameplate, and match the ratio setting of the calibration system. The self-calibration mode supports 5/5 and 1/1 ratio, which can be used for regular equipment self-inspection.

4.3 Environmental Adaptability

The device should work within the specified temperature and humidity range. Avoid long-term use in damp, dusty environments to prevent insulation aging.

4.4 Load Matching

The rated capacity is 5 VA with power factor ranging from 0.8 to 1. The actual secondary load during testing shall not exceed the rated capacity, otherwise the measurement error will increase.

5. Conclusion

As a portable reference standard for current transformer verification, the ZXHL series standard current transformer covers a wide range of transformation ratios, supports self-calibration, and adopts a mobile structure for flexible deployment in laboratories and field test sites. Testing technicians shall strictly comply with wiring specifications and environmental requirements during operation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of transformer error testing, and realize reliable value traceability for low-voltage and high-current metering devices in power systems.
